A Few Ways to Not Bring in Traffic

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

There’s a market out there where people actually will sell and trade traffic. No kidding. Now, it’s true that these will theoretically bring in more traffic, it’s just traffic. You will get viewers, but in all likelihood, they’re only going to look at your page for a couple of seconds and move on.

The first kind of traffic market is traffic trading. The idea is that you go to a site such as Link Referral or Traffic Swarm. Then, in exchange for looking at the sites they want you to see, you get a ton of traffic.

Now, let’s think a minute. If you went to one of these sites with the idea of increasing your traffic for minimal effort, as you probably would, how much attention would you pay to the sites you were obligated to look at?

Probably not a lot. You would probably just breeze by as many as you needed to as quickly as you could, right? Guess what? Just Read More→

Why Cloak Your Affiliate Links?

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

It’s a bit of a hot topic among affiliate marketers that they need to protect their commissions by cloaking them. There is a virtual wave of paranoia about rogue affiliates stealing their commissions. Let’s look at the possibilities of how this can be done, and then we can decide whether cloaking is the way to go.

The basic way that an affiliate link can theoretically get stolen is by essentially hacking the page that it’s on and changing the code in the link so that it pays the thief, and not the owner of the link. There are a few problems with this in general.

First, the thief would have to know what an affiliate link is, and what it does. That’s not terribly hard to figure out; information abounds on the Web about affiliate programs. But the people who would know to look for the information are few and far between, compared with the average user.

Secondly, they would have to know how to hack your page Read More→

Getting Them to Your Opt In Page

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

One of the biggest challenges in list building is getting people to your opt in page. Many people assume that it’s just as easy as getting Google ranking and letting them come to you. These poor souls find out the hard way that one channel can tend to be a slow trickle of traffic.

Getting people to your opt in page is really scarcely different than getting them to any Web page. While the search engines are a good resource this way, they certainly aren’t the only ones. The more channels you use, the more traffic you get.

It’s pretty much the same idea as how creeks feed into rivers. A creek is a creek, but if you join it with others, you get a river. Naturally, the more creeks you have, the bigger the river you get. Now, do you want a virtual Amazon river of traffic, or what?

With that in mind, let’s consider the alternate ways we can get them to your opt in page. One good way is Read More→

A Way to Get Solid Affiliates

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

Affiliate marketing is at once one of the most profitable and risky ventures you might get into in online business. Like it or not, we are all judged by the company we keep. Naturally, you will want to affiliate yourself with marketers who have good reputations.

There’s the rub. By going the easy way and shopping on affiliate list sites, you run the risk of affiliating with disreputable marketers. You could very well wind up being part of “the wrong crowd.”

It can even get worse than that. For one thing, you will want affiliates who are in markets relevant to yours. This gets even more important if you realize that some affiliates are in niches that may be an embarrassment to your business, or make your targeted clientèle uneasy.

On the same token, you don’t want to link up with your competition. While you want relevant links, Read More→

Listbuilding from the Beginning

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

There’s an old saying that you have to have gold to create more gold. Much the same thing can be said about effectively building a list. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a head start on a list before you put up your Web page? Here are a few ideas on how to do that.

1.Start with Friends and Family

Some people don’t like this idea. They have a notion that it would strain the relationship by selling them on one of your products. This often occurs when you’re selling someone else’s product. If you think about it, though, it’s a bit different when it’s your own product. Who better to talk to excitedly about your latest venture than your friends and family? You may already be selling them on it without knowing it.

2.Existing Clientèle

This is ideal if you have a brick and mortar location. It’s very passive—just set out a guest book for people to sign. Be sure that you mention that it’s about updates and special promotions. For very little work, Read More→

Speed Up Your Loading Time

Posted by: Shawn Casey | Comments (0)

One thing that users typically don’t like about some websites is that it takes too long for them to load. For every second it takes for a site to load from a link or a results page, the more likely it is that they’re going to hit the stop button or the back arrow. Obviously, this isn’t something you want. Here are a few ideas to minimize that problem.

More often than not, the problem is with the media files on your website. Think what you will about dial up, but many people still use it. If you have large media files, it might be a good idea to shrink them down some.

Typically, the visual files are what you’ll have to worry about. If the images are too large, it will naturally slow down the load rate as they wait for the pictures to load. Shrink down the size, maybe fuzz up the resolution a little, and they’ll load faster. Ultimately, the fewer kilobytes or megabytes an image file is, the quicker it loads.

With that in mind, you should Read More→
