Let’s say that you’ve been listbuilding for a while, and you want to REALLY reap the benefits of having a list.  You have a large list, but you notice that you may have a small conversion rate for your newer products.  There are two things that you can do….One is technical and one is creative.

Promote Relevant Products on Your List

Granted, the people on your list have probably already bought products from you.  In the future, in order to keep the conversion rate high, you should promote relevant products.  A potentially good reason that you’re not getting repeat buyers is that your other products don’t appeal to them.

This is where doing your product and niche research really comes in handy.  You want to avoid a situation that’s, as they say, “apples and oranges,” but you also want to make sure that you’re promoting a good product.  Your endorsement won’t sweeten the deal on a product if there are thousands of negative reviews all over the place about it.

Make Your Sales Pitch Sparkle

Another possible problem you may be having is that your sales pitch may not be good enough.  Some marketers use a Read More→

In your affiliate marketing career, you may have noticed that not all social media links help the page rank of your site.  You may have spammed the heck out of Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace and wondered why your site isn’t climbing the ranks.  The thing of it is that more and more social media sites won’t count for your page ranking anymore.

Many High Ranking Social Sites Use the nofollow Tag

The reason these seemingly lucrative social media sites don’t count is that they automatically insert the nofollow tag when you post your link.  The reason they did it is simple:  They don’t want marketers to spam their sites with links to boost their page rankings.

So, how does the nofollow tag work?  It’s a tag that’s included with your link in the robots.txt file that tells the search engine spiders to not follow the link.  If the spiders don’t follow the link to your site, your website doesn’t get the link juice.

These Social Media Sites are Still Useful

On a certain level, it’s understandable why they do it.  Their demographic users don’t want to see a bunch of links Read More→

Back in the old days, getting traffic to your website was easy.  You just mass-mailed a bunch of people in AOL, put up a link in the chat rooms, and you were good to go – Instant traffic.  Nowadays, things are a bit more complicated.

Enter the Search Engines

After a phase of mass-mailing to get traffic, a new technology called “search engines” emerged.  No longer were users limited to what AOL advertised.  Yahoo Mail and Hotmail came along, as well, and the game seriously changed for marketers.

The first thing we wanted to know was how to win rank on the search engines.  Was it a matter of page design?  Was it a matter of content?  What exactly drove the search engines’ ranking systems?  Someone discovered that “keywords” were how web pages were ranked, and so everyone tried to jam as many of these keywords on their pages as possible.

Google Dubbed Keyword Stuffing “Black Hat”

Eventually, keyword stuffing created a lot of problems in the Internet marketing biz.  Some people began posting pages that were nothing but keywords.  Google decided to put an Read More→

Building your list with joint ventures is the quickest and easiest way to build your list.  I know, I’ve said it a thousand times, but I wouldn’t be harping about it if it didn’t work.  After all, why go through all the effort of building your own list when you can hit on someone else’s?

Start Looking for a Partner on Marketing Forums

If you’re just getting started, you’d probably have to sell the family farm to make it to a marketing convention.  That’s why marketing forums are good.  It takes some work and some time, but if the conventions would break your bank, this is the place to go.

The first rule you need to know is to observe for awhile before you start making posts.  You’ll want to get a feel for the place before saying anything.  Warrior Forum isn’t too snarky, but you can sure bet that on Wicked Fire, you’re going to get negative comments, Rick-Rolled, or worse, if you just jump in and ask for advice, tools, or partnerships.

Building Your Brand in the Forums

With that in mind, you should be building your brand before you start talking about partnerships.  No one is going to want to partner with a newbie.  You have to Read More→

The true key to success in anything, affiliate marketing included, is persistence. The cases of “instant success” are the ones where some lucky Joe just blunders into an open niche and gets stupidly rich are – in all likelihood – preceded by a string of failures. Nobody really gets it right the first time.

Even if you have been at it a while and had a lot of successes, you’re bound to eventually encounter a failed start. Even though you’ve spent all kinds of time and energy during research and development, you sell a dud. Every so often, duds waiting to happen will get through. As long as it wasn’t such a spectacular failure that you’re off to the poor house, you can get something from it.

An Example:  A Blocked Affiliate Link

Let’s say, for example, that you create an affiliate link that a person can post in their blog. During the testing phase, it makes bank. Everyone gets excited about the idea, and you decide to sell this product. At first, everything goes well. The next thing you know, your customer support desk starts sending up complaints that the program doesn’t work. Eventually, you find out that the blog server is blocking your software.

Now, since you promised a money back guarantee, you find yourself having to pay everyone back. You try to save the project, but Read More→

Bing, the website that’s being touted as Google’s staunch competitor, has given you a new tool for getting traffic to your website.  There are also plans for doing a similar thing with Facebook.  Do a Bing search for “Twitter,” and see what I’m talking about.

The First Thing You See In the Bing Search

Once you’ve done this Bing search, what’s the first thing you see?  You see Tweets given by Twitter.  What’s more, you may get to see mentions of other Twitter members and hyperlinks to Twitter Tools and exterior websites.

Interested yet?  Now do a Bing search on Ashton Kutcher.  Now you’re seeing pictures along with his Tweets.  Now, are you excited?  Hang on a minute, there’s one more thing you should do.  Bing search yourself and see what happens.

Wait…I’m not On Top of the Search Page

You’ll see one of two things.  Either your Tweets are at the top of the search page, or they aren’t.  More than likely Read More→
