Writing about topics related to your niche and using the resource box to provide your contact information is a free and easy way to advertise. This strategy works best if you can submit a few articles every week to the top-ranked article directories. This gives your content maximum exposure. Writing articles is another way to build credibility in your particular niche and can prove beneficial later on if you want to write an e-book or special report about your niche.
Traffic Exchange
Traffic exchange or “Hit Exchange,” is receiving exposure for your website by viewing ads on other websites. This is a great way to get your products viewed across the World Wide Web, as well as a chance to see what other people are promoting. You can also get an idea of how your competition is marketing their products.
To participate in most traffic exchange programs, you have to join and open an account. You view different websites and in return your site is being viewed by others. If you actively participate in the program, you can generate a steady stream of traffic to your website.
Forums/Message Boards
Joining and participating in forums and message boards is a great way to create an online presence. Of course, you want to join forums that are related to your interests. Asking questions and leaving comments frequently will peak the interest of others in your niche and they will check your signature box for more information about you. This is where you add your website URL, which will direct them to your website. The more you interact, the more traffic you will get.
Blogs/Social Networking
Social networking is the fastest way to build a name for yourself. Again, you must participate and leave real comments – not just, “Liked your page.” If you want to utilize the power of a blog, you need to be prepared to provide frequent posts. People lose interest rather quickly, and with a million other blogs to choose from, you can find that you are receiving no traffic if you don’t keep your blog updated.
You can pay for driving traffic to your website, or you spend a little time and do it yourself for free. Don’t believe people who say free traffic doesn’t work; those are usually the people who don’t have the patience to make it work. You can do it!

The money should start rolling in any minute, right? Well, no. It takes more than putting up a killer website to make money; you need traffic – traffic that converts. Learning the strategies of getting traffic to your website is the missing piece of the puzzle here. Let’s take a moment to review just a few strategies that you can use to drive traffic to your new website.
Compelling Content
Late breaking news – everyone wants gossip. They all want to hear the latest so give it to them. What’s going on in the world? What’s the latest on some new product or big event? Once your visitors know that you will provide informative and juicy information on a consistent basis, they will keep coming back and your traffic will increase.
Social Bookmarking
If you don’t know the power of social bookmarking, this is definitely something worth looking into. Create content related to your niche and submit it to the major social bookmarking sites. Digg is a great place to start. If readers like your content, the will Digg it and your traffic will increase with the more Diggs you get.
Online Tools
Adding special tools for your visitors (such as loan calculators, niche generating tools, calorie counters, or fat calculators) that will prove helpful to them is a unique touch for your website. Once you have a special online tool, promote that in conjunction with your website.
Big Event Coverage
Cover a special event and include all the bells and whistles. For instance, if your niche is “AKA Registered Dogs,” cover a dog show and include snapshots of the event – the contestants, the runner-up, the winner. You can make this a recurring event or even have visitors sign up to receive notice of upcoming shows being covered.
Blogs
Creating a blog about your niche and linking it to your website will not only drive traffic to your website, it can also payoff big if done correctly. You can add RSS feeds and tag your posts. A blog can be one of the biggest marketing tools you can have for your online business, but remember, it does require attention. You have to update it consistently in order for this method of driving traffic to work.
These are just a few marketing strategies to increase traffic to your website. You can try one or two and see how they work, then add a couple more. If you remain consistent and continue to provide what people need and want, you will find that your traffic will increase significantly.
One thing to keep in mind is that it takes time to build traffic, so be patient. Before long, you will see a steady flow of traffic and hopefully a steady flow of sales to match. Remember that consistency is the key and that your website will require your attention on a regular basis. Failure to do so will result in little or no traffic.
Free Ways to Get Traffic to Your Website

Whenever you post to your blog make sure you are pinging at least a dozen services. Any word press blog will let you add a ping listy. The free word press blogs automatically ping “Ping_O_Matic,” A service that in turns send out pings to other sites. For a free blog on blogger.com you can use “Ping_O_Matic,” or another ping service. There are quite a few of them out there so if one glitches on you, just find another one and use it.
Posting regular updates (once a day or even more often) to your blog will get you more visitors because people will get in the habit of regularly checking (either through visiting your blog or through their RSS reader) to see what’s new.
And posting to your bog is actually the easy writing you will ever do. You can be very informal and get away with it. You have to tighten up things a little when you write an article. Not much, but a little. After all, you want the article directories to accept your article to display on their sites and give you the exposure you want and the back links you are looking for
Posting to your blog can be a lot shorter, say 200 to 250 words. For an article you want to think 350 to 500 words.
Remember to link from within your blog posts to the sites you want the search engines to find a link to and so any visitors reading that particular blog entry will have that link right in front of them
So don’t think too much, just write. You want to get into the habit of spitting out a blog post in 5 minutes. Blog often and set up more than one blog if you want. To really establish a blog some ‘experts’ say you should post up to 5 times a day. But daily will get you some notice. You’ll want to spend your effort on other marketing strategies as part of a full business plan, right?
Are Paid Traffic Generation Methods Worth It?

Or there are free services that promise to bring you traffic if you visit a certain number of websites yourself. You may be wondering if these services are actually worth the money or time you’ll spend to get the traffic.
In my opinion, the answer to that is usually no. Now, I’m sure there are some good methods of paying for traffic (Pay Per Click is another topic in itself and is different than the services I am talking about here) out there, but in reality most of these traffic generation programs don’t get you the kind of traffic you really want.
The people who are clicking on links in exchange for getting paid or for getting traffic to their own sites aren’t really interested in the information you have to offer. They’re only interested in getting credit for visiting your site and getting on to the next site as quickly as possible.
The traffic you really want is people who are truly interested in the information, products and services you provide, people who will come to your site and stay for a while, reading the articles and blog posts and maybe even signing up for your newsletter.
While traffic generation programs may bring more traffic to your site, it’s not the kind of traffic that will help you in the long run. 1,000 hits to your site resulting in “0″ sales is not a good way to make money.
You need to focus your efforts on getting visitors who will actually pay attention to your content, who will come back to your site often and who will ultimately buy what you’re selling. That’s what is meant by “Targeted Traffic.” People who are actually interested in purchasing the product or service you are selling.
That’s the kind of traffic that will ultimately make your business a success and you can’t get it through a get-traffic-quick scheme.
Start 2008 Off Right

A new year is a great time to reevaluate how things are going in your personal and business life, but I think most people go about it the wrong way. That’s why they end up having the same resolutions year after year.
Most people say every year that they want to lose weight or exercise more. But they abandon these resolutions early on in the year because they don’t have a lot of motivation or they think they have to be perfect. One day of bad eating or skipping the morning run and they feel like the year is ruined.
It is much better to set goals for yourself instead. Spend some time thinking about where you are in your business and your personal life.
Picture yourself at the beginning of 2009. Where would you like to be? How much money would you like to be making? How much would you like to weigh?
Get as clear a picture as you can of where you want to be.
Once you have this picture in your mind you can set real goals for yourself based on where you want to go. Remember that the most powerful goals are specific, measurable, attainable, results oriented and time bound. Don’t just say you want to make more money, say you want to increase your income by $5,000 a month within the next nine months.
Goals set in this way are much better than wishy-washy resolutions because they drive you to action. They’re a lot more exciting and empowering than a mere statement of what you’d like to do.
When you set goals instead of resolutions, each day gives you a new opportunity to take a step to reach that goal. Yes, you will have days where it’s hard, where you’ll make no progress, but with consistent effort throughout the year you’ll find yourself reaching your goals and having a lot more fun doing it.
