Did you know that when astronauts fly to the moon, their ship is off course most of the time? If that’s true (and I’m told it is true), then how do they ever get to the moon? Obviously, they make a lot of corrections to their course.

Do you realize that you and I spend a lot of time being “off course” in our businesses?

Think about it. You started this week with a specific plan (or should have) to accomplish certain things. Then, reality intruded. Your work was interrupted. Customers needed assistance. You quickly got knocked out of whack.

That’s normal. It happens to everyone. The difference between effectively moving forward and wandering around aimlessly is How quickly do we realize that we’re off course?

Here’s a test: You made New Year’s Resolutions, set goals, or did something to plan for this year. We’re 3 months into the year. Are you on track to accomplish those objectives?

Have you even measured your progress recently?

I’ve found that reviewing my progress on a weekly basis is tremendously helpful to keeping on track. I also work with all my associates to review their progress and keep focused on their plans. In fact, I’m adamant about this review process because I have seen how disastrously screwed up we get without it.

I like to review things weekly because it means that I can’t get too far off course before I correct my path.

I strongly suggest you implement a similar process for you and your associates. You’ll see great results.

Yours in success,

Shawn
