The domain aftermarket saw a record year in 2006 with sales running far ahead of 2005. By the way, 2005 was also way ahead of 2004. (Notice a trend?) The market seems to get stronger almost month by month.

The premium domain name Vodka.com was just sold for $3,000,000!

When the Roy Messer, the owner of Vodka.com, decided to sell the name, he turned down an initial offer of $1,000,000 because he knew how strong the domain market is now (and growing). Obviously, he was right because he’s just cashed in big for 3 million bucks.

That makes it the 2nd highest reported sale this year behind Diamonds.com which sold for a cool $7.5 million. Yes, I wish I’d bought that one back in the day for $35. Sigh.

But these are the good old days that we’ll look back on longingly a few years from now. We’ll be saying I remember when…

If you want to remember the great deals you got on domains, then you really have to check out Domain Profiteer (LINK THAT) because that’s where the smart marketing guys are right now!
