Is List Building Really All That Important?
By Shawn CaseyYou’ve heard about list building, but you just haven’t gotten around to it yet. In fact, you aren’t sure that list building is going to be part of your marketing “game” plan yet. Why is it so important, and why is such a big deal made about it online?
Think of a list in terms of a “permanent” friend and customer
People who are on your list choose to be there. This means they are interested in what you have to offer because they feel that it will solve their need/problem. When a person opts-in to your list, they do so of their own free will. As long as they remain on your list and do not unsubscribe, you can market niche-related products to them long into the future – unlike those who visit your blog or website and leave.
Having a list means instant income
With list building, you can make money “on demand,” so to speak. When your list grows to hundreds or thousands, you may have an incredible offer or deal to broadcast. Suppose you sell a $47 product and you have 500 people on your list. If 10 of those people buy, you’ve made $470 for a couple minutes’ work setting up the broadcast message. Imagine how much you might make when you have a list of 1,000, 5,000, or more!
No list means substantially less income for you.
Imagine all of the potential customers who are escaping when you do not choose to build a list. You may have 100 visitors to your site every day, most of whom will never return. If you had an opt-in box on your site, you could be adding four, five, or even more people to your list every day. These are potential customers that you can build a relationship with! Your sales would increase substantially because those on your list come to trust your recommendations.
Now you see why list building really is a big deal!
