Is List Building Really Such a Big Deal?
By Shawn CaseyList building is one of those things many new marketers (and even those that aren’t so new) put off. There are several reasons that list building often gets put on the back burner; you may not know what to say in your e-mails, or you just feel that your technical knowledge isn’t so great, so you keep plugging along without building a list. Big mistake!
Why building a list really IS a big deal
When you build a list, you collect names and e-mail addresses of people who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. If you have a tight niche and these people sign up, they know that what you will send them is information/products/services that they WANT and need.
That is the key here; they WANT you to help them. Through your e-mails, these people will grow to trust you and your recommendations, meaning they will buy those products/services you offer.
List building is easier than you think
Writing those e-mail messages for your autoresponder really isn’t that hard. Be yourself, offer a little personal information every now and then, and talk to your list about their problem/needs. The secret to a successful online business is to have a genuine interest in helping other people in some way. When you have that, you will be successful.
Don’t worry about sounding like the “ultimate” professional in your e-mails. By talking to your list as if they were your close friends, you will garner their trust and loyalty.
Using an autoresponder is not rocket science
It really doesn’t matter if you have no technical knowledge or don’t know squat about HTML and codes. The best autoresponders today are super easy to use. Just type your message in as you would a regular e-mail!
Putting an opt-in box on your website, blog, or squeeze page is no problem either. Just copy and paste the code provided by your autoresponder service and you’re ready to go.
Now there are no excuses! List building is essential if you plan to build a successful business that profits for the long term. If you still feel uncomfortable, watch how others do it by signing up for a few lists. Piece of cake!
