Hi! It’s Shawn Casey! Today, I’d like to share with you an important lesson; one that took me all too long to learn, one that cost me easily millions of dollars to not having learned in the first place, and I’m going to save you all that heartache, pain, and suffering, and here’s what I’m talkin’ about. I’m talkin’ about the difference of making one-time sales; where you make a sale, you collect the money; and your all done; and making a sale with continuity, like a membership program where you make a sale one time but you keep getting paid month after month. Now, this might sound like a pitch for a multi-level marketing or network marketing company but it’s not. Now, that’s a part of what, of course, you look for in a multi-level marketing deal where the continuity income where you make the sale, you do the work one time, you keep getting paid month after month.

Now, this is more something that you control where you’ve got a membership of many people, hopefully, paying you every single month. For example; my partner is Jeff Paul, Jim Fleck, and I; we’ve got a program called Millionaire Of The Month. As we talk right now, we’ve got somewhere just over 5,000 members in that membership program who paid 29.99 a month. All very happy to do it getting great value, great content month after month, superb delivery of all kinds of stuff for them…they’re very happy.

Now, when we look at our budget, we make our forecast. We don’t wake up on the first day of the month and say, “I wonder what we’re gonna do this month.” Because, we know that when that month starts, we’ve got that income already set up there and running; same thing with our other membership programs.

Now, for a longtime, we sold, you know, one product at a time, but we got smart and we now sell a product where we keep getting paid over and over and over again. It’s a, very important lesson, because once we become members and it’s no harder to sell them a membership. If you do it right, then there’s a one-time product. Once these people become members, they tend to keep on paying over and over and over again.

See, it’s one of the great things; memberships, and think of the things you belong to. I mean, you might belong to Costo or Sam’s club. You might belong to a golf club or you might just have a membership in the book-of-the-month club, or maybe Columbia House Records where they ship you the CDs every month. These are all membership programs that we belong to and we pay month after month after month.
The ones I like of course best are information programs, like Millionaire Of The Month where once we create the content, it doesn’t cost us anymore to deliver that to one person, than to 100, than to 500, than to 1000, or more; and so, the information part has all these tremendous margins, great profitability is possible because of the fact that we are able to stretch out this very small content cost over lots of people, and so, we approach almost 100% profit margin on gross profit basis on the product we sell. So, this is just terrific.

You know, when we sell that membership for 29 dollars and 99 cents, our biggest cost we have are the server costs to host it, which is not much at all. Basically, one member probably pays that, and then we’ve got some customer service cost occasionally we have people with questions. We, of course, need to deal with that. Either we handle it or in the case of Jeff, Jim, and myself; that’s handled by our customer service people, but this is a fabulous, fabulous way for you to get started, for you to make money is to being the membership business.

Now, a lot of ways to get in it. One is to stat your own membership, and you can certainly do that, but I suggest you consider taking a huge shortcut. I like shortcuts, especially in business, especially when they can make me a lot of money. Now, sometimes you have to invest money in a shortcut but it can save you thousands of dollars, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands in the long run. ‘Cause one of the possibilities with you going to create a membership is that, you might actually never get it created.

You will be foolin’ around, finding software, doing things, trying to create content, and you’re not out there selling, and as you heard me talk about many times before, if you’ve heard me at all; you don’t make money creating products, you don’t make money doin’, you know, building software, you make in marketing and selling. That’s where the profits are. Everything else as far as I’m concerned is in the way. It is necessary to your business but it’s in the way, because what’s important? Makin’ money, marketing, and selling; that’s what makes your money.

So, when you can shortcut and jump right into turnkey products, I always suggest you do that. It’s a big shortcut to your business profitability.
