In a conversation with one of my young proteges the other day, he made a brilliant observation (although he was really just telling it like it is):

“I need to get started on my plans right away. I’m not going to let 2007 slip away from me like I did 2006. I’m getting started right now so I can get where
I want to be this year.”

I think this is brilliant for 2 reasons…

First, he recognized the mistake he’d made before and is taking action not to repeat the mistake.

Second, he realizes he needs to take action now and is, in fact, off to a great start this year.

My experience (and lots of smart people have said this) has shown me that if I don’t put a plan into my brain and tell it to take action, nothing happens. And I’ve sometimes looked back after too much time has passed with nothing getting accomplished and wonder “What happened?”

Your first step to make 2007 the year you want it to be is to set your goals (big ones!) by writing them down and being specific.

Not “I want to rich.” Instead, pick the big dollar amount of cash you want to have in the bank on 1/1/08. Or the amount of monthly income you want to have by the year’s end.

Your second step is to visualize your goals fully and completely as if you’ve already achieved them.

Would you like to be driving around in that new Lexus? Then, go to the dealership this week and test drive the car. Forget about the fact you can’t afford it…yet. Go drive it as if it’s yours. Savor the feeling. Believe that you deserve to be in an automobile of this quality and luxury.

Take the brochure home. Tear out your favorite picture and hang it on the wall next to your computer. Every time you look at your new car, remember how good you feel driving it.

Make it yours in your mind today and soon that car will be parked in your garage.

Do you want to buy your new dream home? Then, you need to see yourself coming home to it, walking in the front door, enjoying the fine furnishings, etc.

Not sure what it looks like. Then, go out this weekend and look some model homes or open houses and find it. When you start to live your dreams in your mind, your mind (with some amazing help from the universe) works to make those dreams a reality.

Believe me, this works. My wife and I carefully and specifically visualized our dream home. We wrote down each of the features and the entire layout of the rooms. We made a very specific list. And we now live in that house.

This visualization technique will work for anything you truly focus on. And then take action.

That’s Your third step. To take action to realize your dreams. You’ve decided what you want. Now, go get it. Start taking action today and never stop.

Be relentless in pursuit of your dreams…and you will be living them far sooner than you can now imagine possible.
