So many aspects of affiliate marketing make it a great place to start in Internet business.  As a beginner, there are many temptations that can lead to dead ends for you if you’re not careful.  It’s true that there are many profitable products out there, but you don’t want to just dive into everything.  Nor do you want to pick just one and stick with it.  Here are some of the tips you need to know to get started.

Start Niche Marketing with What You Know

A horrific mistake many newbie marketers make is how they approach niche marketing.  Actually, the problem is that they don’t.  You can get away with tackling any old niche later, but for now, stick with stuff that you know about.

The reason you should do it this way is that if you don’t know a niche, you don’t have a frame of reference for your web copy.  If you don’t know what problem a product solves, how can you communicate with the reader about it?  You also have to be able to brand yourself as an expert in your niche…something you can’t do with something you don’t know anything about.  Get yourself a comfortable income in the stuff you know and are passionate about, then worry about researching your niches.

After You Get Your Base Income, Then Do Niche Research

Now that you have a start in the niches you know and have passion for, then you can do niche research to expand your portfolio.  Your bills are covered, your business is running on autopilot, and now you have time to find new ways to make money.  With the experience you have in launching a campaign, you don’t have to spend as much time on that aspect, either.

You do need a method for niche research, though.  You have to first be able to find out what niches are hot or will soon be hot.  Once you’ve found that out, now you have to familiarize yourself with the lingo and the culture of the target audience.  When you’ve learned these things, you’re ready to jump in the niche as a marketer.

Never Clutter Your Affiliate Site with Affiliate Links

One big no-no that some new affiliates do is that they clutter their affiliate site with several links.  To a certain extent, it’s okay to have more than one affiliate link on your website but there are limits.  At the most, you should have links for three or four different products.

Additionally, these products should all be in the same niche.  Naturally, you don’t want to promote competing products on one site, but there are different products for different purposes in the same niche.  These can be promoted on the same page without any difficulty.

If you don’t do this, you’ll find that your business doesn’t go nearly as well as you planned.  Your message will be diluted, and people will usually refuse to choose if you give them the chance.
