Using StumbleUpon for Getting Traffic to Your Website
By
StumbleUpon.com is a great way to drive traffic to your website. It gets tons of traffic, and if you know how to use it without being spammy, you can channel a good cut of that traffic to your website. Here are some really great tips on how to do that:
1. First of all, go ahead and download the toolbar. It will make your life a lot easier.
2. When you get links from people, Stumble them. You will have to visit your dashboard regularly, and when you see that you get a link from someone, visit their blog and give it a “thumbs up” with the thumbs up icon. You may have to fill out a form when you do this, depending on if you’re the first person to Stumble them. What this does is it gives them traffic, and when they get traffic, their visitors will see your link and may go to your post.
3. When you see bloggers Stumble your posts, link and befriend them. Social media marketing is about building relationships. Chances are, if someone Stumbled your post, they’re looking for stuff related to what you’re promoting. If you keep them in the loop of what you’re doing, they might just visit your site.
4. Keep a’ Stumblin’. Stumble your friends’ posts, Stumble your commenters’ posts and Stumble posts that you link to. Of course, you will only want to “thumbs up” the best posts. This will build trust if you’re selective on what you approve. This will also encourage them to join in the Stumbling game, which will, in turn, improve your own status and get you MORE TRAFFIC!
5. Be thankful. You can thank people who Stumble on your posts with StumbleUpon. There is a white conversation balloon in the toolbar. If you click on that, you can see who Stumbled on you. If you click on their name, you can see their profile. From there, you can send them a message. Being thankful to your visitors isn’t just nice. It can encourage them to come back to see your stuff. If you keep up with your updating, you can generate more interest in what you’re doing and you’ll have regular visitors.
6. Finally, you can also Stumble on what other people have Stumbled. If someone has Stumbled on some of your material, chances are, they have done the same on someone else’s profile. It’s particularly good to Stumble their favorites, which you can see in the right toolbar. This will do several things. One, it will improve that person’s status. If they like your stuff, it improves your status. It will also draw attention from the person you just Stumbled. Of course, you should handle this new visitor just as shown above.
With these tips in mind, you can seriously turn StumbleUpon into a traffic generating machine without getting the boot for spamming. It’s also a good way to develop lasting relationships with people in your niche. Well worth the time.
