It’s about high time for a departure from “how to” listbuild to discuss why you should be listbuilding.  Sometimes it’s good to keep in our memories “why” we do the things we do in marketing.  Also, there may be new readers out there who could use the introduction to listbuilding.

Why You Should Build Your List

The simplest reason you should build your list is because not everyone who looks at your site will buy the product.  It’s much easier to get these people on a mailing list than to actually get them to buy a product.  From there, you can offer discounts or freebies on your products to try and convince them to buy them.  Besides, if they won’t buy one product, they may buy something else later, simply put.

Besides listbuilding, in order to try and make a sale on a single product, there are some marketing ventures where listbuilding is the goal, at least for the time being.  This may seem counter-intuitive to the new marketer, but it often happens when you have a lot of products that you’re promoting all at once.  This has its own benefits.

The Benefits of Building a List from a Non-Sales Page

If you’re a career affiliate marketer, it will be a good idea to eventually start putting up listbuilding sites rather than affiliate marketing sites.  It’s a great way to diversify your portfolio without having a gazillion low ranking websites up for several different products.  It saves you time and energy, and you still get your message across.

This way, you can focus on one or two websites and drill the heck out of their rankings.  Additionally, the older the page is, the more authority you get from the search engines.  The trick to make this work, though, is that you yourself have to have authority in your niche already.  You’ve gotta have your personal brand down pat.

Why Building Your Brand is Important

Building your brand is important because being successful as a marketer is a matter of trust.  If your potential clients don’t see you as someone who knows what you’re talking about, they’re less likely to buy from you.  There are two key elements in building your brand.  You have to convey knowledge and success.

Until I was able to convey those two concepts through my image, I wasn’t all that successful in my marketing.  Once my reputation of knowledge and success solidified, the conversions started rolling in, and I became an award-winning marketer.

How you can do this is through blogging and networking.  You can’t be quiet about what you know and what you’ve achieved.  Humility is fine, but if you don’t talk about these things, no one’s going to know about it.  If no one knows your reputation, your conversions will be minimal.  Selling yourself before your products is a must in this industry.  Without it, for all anyone knows, you’re just some kid working out of your parents’ basement.
